Signpost - The journal on dementia,
mental health and memory problems in older people, and including Alzheimer's
disease, stroke, and depression and other dementias.
Signpost is a multidisciplinary
journal and is aimed at professionals and carers working with older
people with dementia and other mental health problems. It provides a user-friendly source of
information and education, and is an enjoyable and often moving read.
Signpost was first published in 1997 and there are three
editions a year.
The journal is a non-profit making
venture, with all income supporting its continued production and local
staff training. Subscription rates are kept to a minimum, starting from
just £15 a year.
Signpost aims
Signpost aims to provide a range of
articles whose purpose is to:-
- Enhance the quality of care of older people with
dementia and mental health problems, whether it be in hospitals, day
care, at home, or in residential and nursing home settings.
- Enhance the quality of life of this client group.
by
- Publishing informative articles from home and abroad
on up-to-date and innovative practices.
- Providing a platform for professionals and carers to
share their research and expertise.
- Enhancing the profiles of this client group and
service, which is often regarded as the Cinderella service.
In addition to articles dealing with the care of older
people, Signpost also addresses the care of younger people with early
onset dementia.
Signpost also contains news, conference reports, and
website reviews. Book reviews are to be found both in the journal and also
on this website.
